Hailing from Laguna Beach, California, Diaz worked as a firefighter for six years before becoming the first assistant to Jonathan Antin at JONATHAN Salon in Beverly Hills. In 2007, he relocated to New York and began work at the world renowned Bumble and Bumble. From there he went on to Ion Studio and can now be found at Suite Caroline. Diaz's editorial work can be seen online or in publications such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Teen Vogue, Interview and Esquire. In the past, he has collaborated regularly with the respective teams of Sam McKnight and Guido Palau. As of 2012, Diaz has been on his own cultivating a unique personal style and impressive roster of clients. His specialty: creative materials and concepts. Jewelry, flowers, fabric, nothing is exempt. One day a little while back, Diaz was styling Katy Perry on a rooftop and they decided to pick nearby flowers to place in her hair. Giovanna Battaglia's braided rose crown is a similar effect chosen for the 2012 Met Ball. Diaz is also the stylist to The Dolls (Mia Moretti and Margot Moe), Dasha Zhukova, as well as Mary Helen Bowers of Ballet Beautiful. Twice a year, he travels to work on the collections in London, Milan and Paris, an experience he brings back to translate in the salon environment.
